Since its founding in 1977 Friendship Trap Company has supplied Fishermen with new lobster traps, used lobster traps, commercial lobster fishing supplies, sink rope, pot warp, commercial fishing and lobster buoys and funnel hoops. We also distribute the "SeaMaster" line of products which we helped develop specifically for our commercial fishing customers. Friendship Trap can even supply you with the trap wire and tools to build your own traps if you wish. Our New Lobster Traps are custom built in Maine to meet our customer’s specifications and needs. As part of our service we deliver our New and Used Lobster Traps in Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New York, Connecticut, New Jersey, Maryland and Canada too.
About a third of Friendship’s lobster trap business is its "Rockbottom" line of inshore and offshore wire lobster traps with built-in, specially formulated concrete ballast lobster trap runners. We at Friendship Trap Company continue to invent and craft new "SeaMaster" lobster products, such as four-pound and six-pound lobster trap Ballasts which are clip-on vinyl-coated steel trap ballast blocks that are designed to be lighter on deck and heavier in the water. Our newest product is the exciting PVC steel ballast lobster trap runners proven to be a winner right from the start.
There are a lot of challenges facing the lobster industry in regards to shifting seasons, whale rope protection rules, increased lobster bait and fuel prices, lobster market issues, and more. Those that rely on lobster fishing are trying to fish a better lobster trap and get the biggest bang for their dollar. We’re trying to build a more efficient, maintenance-free lobster trap with the latest innovations because we share those challenges. Our livelihood and those who work at Friendship Trap are tied right to the lobstermen.
Friendship Trap Company employs 30-50 people between its facility in Downeast Maine at Columbia Falls and its main facility in Friendship. Both facilities offer modern manufacturing processes and supply shops. In looking to the future this lobster industry’s not going away, So we’ll keep doing what we do.
